At Craigsplates we use the latest high tech equipment to design, build and manufacture your number plate or show plates. All our ABS Substrate plates are manufactured to BSAU145d; this makes them stronger; more impact resistant, and last a lot longer than the old style plates. Before you ask, ABS stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, so now you know why we just refer to them as acrylic!!! You must display a white reflective plate on the front and a yellow reflective plate on the rear (unless your vehicle is pre-1973, in which case you have the choice of modern coloured plates or black background), according to UK law.

Signs and Show Plates
If you require a differently spaced or designed acrylic or metal plate then we have to sell this as a ´sign´, for ´off road´ use. We place a disclaimer on the back advising you that it is sold as a sign, and it is not to be fitted to any vehicle using the U.K. roads. Please Note: All show plates are shipped from our Company in the Isle of Man
Road Legal Number Plates
There are only 2 fonts that are permitted on road legal number plates - standard (plain legal) and 3D font. In addition, personalisation, non-standard images, or honeycomb backing are not legal. The spacing of the numbers and letters in your registration must match that printed in your V5 logbook (registration document). If you want to know the legal requirements for Road Legal plates then please visit the DVLA website. If you choose to place your order through our plate-maker, it will only show you those options that are currently legal.
